Artful brew

Managed to get a quick family trip to Ft. Collins squeezed into the summer. That town is so much fun I'll have to do two posts to do the trip justice. I must start of with the beer homage, since we spent so much time hopping from brewery to brewery. I am not as avid a beer drinker as my counterpart but was excited by all the outdoor patios and brewery design. Here's a taste of what we saw.

NEW BELGIUM BREWING
I've got to say that New Belgium's design was the most impressive throughout. No detail was spared... down to the letterpress paper towel sign urging people to use the hand dryer in the ladies room. And bike parts used for everything from table tops, merchandise hooks, and t-shirt hangers.

Love the mural on the side of the old brick building and the signs for the bike parking.

Tasty Pair

Bluebird Microcreamery & Brewery

Again, I'm a little late to the scene but ignorance allowed me the giddy thrill of seeing the their sign from across the street. I convinced my man to leave the pub we were in to test out the treats at Bluebird. He still wanted a pint...I had reached my fill but still had room for ice cream so this was the perfect place for us. We shared the Theo Chocolate Stout and the Vita ice cream with hot fudge. I'd love to go back and try their fresh sodas and floats as well. Root beer, cream soda and snickerdoodle.

Astoria: Post Thanksgiving

Astoria, Oregon is a beautiful seaside town full of great historical eyecandy. Astorians really know how to preserve and renovate their spaces and also brew amazing beer and a mean cup of coffee. We packaged up the extended family over Thanksgiving weekend and set loose on the town. We were welcomed with open arms at Fort George Brewery. Kids and all... just a few feet from the beer tanks. Also had a chance to explore shops and take a rest at the beautiful Street 14 Coffee which is connected to the newly renovated Commodore Hotel. All full of amazing old details and nostalgic charm.
